Many institutions look after diverse osteological collections with complicated care and management needs. Understanding, using, maintaining and conserving these collections is a large and complex topic. This day uses talks, examples, advice from experts in the field and the opportunity for hands-on tutoring to give collection managers greater insight into looking after these wonderful objects.
From in-depth case studies of bone cleaning, rearticulation and restoration to talks on bone identification and preparation, this day will cover a wide variety of museum osteology topics. There is also the opportunity to book on to a half-day bone cleaning workshop with experts from Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the University Museum of Zoology, Cambridge.
